Portable Lighting Control

Compact, rugged and easy to use, Act 2 is the economical way to control up to four 650W lighting loads from a mains supply of 13 Amps. The two dimmers are mastered by independent faders, and each of the four output sockets can be switched off, full on, or under control of a dimmer.

Act 2 is supplied with 5 metres of mains cable and four output plugs, and the optional mounting plate converts the unit into a wall or stand mounted dimmer.

Developed at the request of agents for a basic two channel lighting control. Introduced Autumn 1983.

Act 3
The three 25A dimmers are housed in a rugged case and have individual circuit breaker protection.
Connections to the load are made through CEE17 32A socket outlets. Fader control may be by local or remote operation. Available in analogue or multiplex versions for compatibility with Strand desks.

Act 6 (1984) Economy priced portable dimmers
1984 - 5A, 15A, Schuko versions
The chassis design of Act 6 will permit a wide range of socket types to be used for individual market areas. All types incorporate specially chosen panel fuses which will survive the usual form of abuse that this type of dimmer inevitably suffers - namely the removal and replacement of fuses on load - and LED indication of fuse continuity and the status of the power supply.
All the dimmer electronics are mounted on a single pcb which includes the power intake terminals, and connections to the triacs, mounted on the extruded aluminium heatsink case, and the connection to the control panel pcb. Each dimmer circuit is rated at a full 10 Amps, and the total continuous load is 45 Amps. If the pack is overloaded for any appreciable time, an internal thermal safety trip will switch off power, and will reset when the temperature reduces to within its normal operating range.

The circuit design of Act 6 incorporates a low voltage power supply to supply a Tempus desk which will plug directly into the local control panel of Act 6 when a full manual remote control is required.

As mentioned above, Act 6 is not intended to replace Tempus as it performs to a different specification.
